Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam, popularly known as Ceylon jack tree or jackfruit, evergreen tree reaching 8-25 m high, belongs to the family Moraceae. The trunk is straight, rarely buttressed, with a circumference of 50-100 cm. The stems are straight, forming a 30° angle with the trunk. The leaves are alternate, simple, pinnately veined, coriaceous, glossy, 4-25 cm long x 2-12 cm, dark green on the upper side and pale green beneath. The leaf has many therapeutic properties especially its diabetes control, antioxidant and anti-aging properties. Traditionally leaves are useful in fever, boils, wounds and skin diseases. In the present study, we discuss and highlight the recent findings concerning the different classes of RA therapies including the conventional and modern drug therapies. Approximately, one per cent of the world population lives with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), with at least twice as many women affected as men. Selection of leaves are important as compared to the other parts because it includes more constituents and also can be cheaply...

This study investigates the antioxidant properties and chemical composition of Linum usitatissimum L. (flaxseed) extract using High Resolution-Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (HR-LCMS) analysis. The primary objective is to identify the bioactive compounds responsible for the antioxidant activity and evaluate the efficacy of flaxseed extracts prepared with different solvents, including methanol, ethanol, acetone, chloroform, petroleum ether, and ethyl acetate. Methodologically, the study employs various antioxidant assays such as DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, and total Antioxidant Activity (TAA), in conjunction with HR-LCMS analysis for comprehensive chemical profiling. Key findings reveal that methanolic and ethanolic extracts exhibit the highest antioxidant activities, with significant amounts of phenolic and flavonoid compounds identified. The HR-LCMS analysis further elucidates the presence of metabolites such as adenosine, abscisic acid glucose ester, and kaempferol 7-O-glucoside, which contribute to the observed bioactivity. The study concludes that flaxseed extracts, particularly those obtained with methanol and ethanol, possess substantial antioxidant potential, underscoring their potential application in nutraceuticals and functional...

The aim of this study is to prepare and formulate an herbal shampoo and evaluate its physiochemical properties for safety and efficacy which contain safe natural ingredients. Shampoo is a hair care product used for the removals of dirt, oils, skin particles, environmental pollutants and other foreign particle which build up in hair. The shampoo is enriched with herbal extract without any synthetic additives. The herbal extract used in formulations are Punica grantum (pomegranate), Curcuma longa (turmeric), Sapindus mukorossi (ritha), Datura metal (datura), Pisidium guajira (guava), Azadinachta indica (neem), Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (shoe black plant), Citrus sinensis (orange), Zingiber officinale (ginger), Allium sativum (garlic), Allium cepa (onion), Cuminum cyminum (jeera). Herbal shampoo was prepared by simple mixing process. The herbal shampoo was tested for physicochemical properties. Some of methods are visual inspection, pH determination, solubility check, cleansing action, determination of percentage solid content, viscosity evaluation, dirt dispersion, foaming ability detergency ability and stability...

In Ivory Coast, the leaves of Ipomoea batatas are consumed like spinach without any prior study of toxicity. This study aims to evaluate the toxicity of Ipomoea batatas leaf macerate on female rats. Thus, the phytochemical screening, the acute oral toxicity test of the leaf macerate of this plant was carried out on female rats. The results show that Ipomoea batatas leaves contain sterols and polyterpenes, polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids and saponosides. The study also reveals that the macerate of I. batatas leaves is not toxic orally. The rats showed no signs of toxicity. The weight of vital organs of female rats treated with the macerate showed no significant difference from that of control female rats. Concerning the reproductive organs, a significant increase in the weight of the ovary was observed in females’ rats treated with the extract compared to control rats. The study revealed a decrease in the level of white blood cells in the test female rats. At level of biochemical parameters, a significant decrease in AST and...

Diabetes, a silent killer, ravages the kidney and liver, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Studies have suggested a link connecting dysfunctional liver and renal activity alongside glucotoxic retinopathy in patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Against this background, our preclinical study unveils the remarkable nephro-hepatoprotective effects of herbal teas from Hibiscus sabdariffa, Moringa oleifera, Zingiber officinale and Azadirachta indicain diabetic male Wistar rats induced with alloxan. Diabetes of artificial source was administered through a one-time interperitoneal administeration of about seven categories having 6 rats in the individual group. control (glycemic), diabetic groupthat is made up of alloxan treatment + Zobo (100+400 mg/kg)., alloxan + moringa (100 +200 mg/kg), alloxan + ginger (100+500 mg/kg), alloxan + Dogoyaro (100+250 mg/kg), and lastly, the alloxan +glibenclamide (100+5mg/kg) were orally given for 28 days. Reduction of tissue weight was observed upon administration of alloxan which was ameliorated upon treatment with the selected herbal teas. Also, elevated levels of liver and kidney biomakers induced by alloxan were reversed upon administration of...
