The Kasni, Cichorium intybus of family Asteraceae Class Magnoliopsida, which is also known as Chicory, is well known traditional herb included in many systems of medicine like Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha system of medicine. The genus Cichorium has six species with majorly distributed in Europe and Asia. It is cultivated in countries such as the UK, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, USA, and India. Kasni is a small aromatic biennial erect perennial herb around 1 m. in height with a fleshy taproot up to 75 cm in length and mainly it contains alkaloids, inulin, sesquiterpene lactones, coumarins, vitamins, chlorophyll pigments, unsaturated sterols, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, carbohydrates, glycosides, fats, gums, and minerals. Fresh chicory typically contains 68% inulin, 14% sucrose, 5% cellulose, 6% protein, 4% ash, and 3% other compounds, while dried chicory contains approximately 98% inulin and 2% other compounds. Introduction: The phytochemicals in medicinal plants are defined as bioactive non-nutrient plant compounds in fruits, vegetables, and grains that have been linked to reducing the risk of major chronic diseases. The medicinal plant is promising to have such have effective medicinal property due to the presence of phytochemical compounds like alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds. The present study aimed to find the phytochemicals present in hexane and ethyl acetate extracts of Justicia tranqubarieansis and Bauhinia racemosa and also find out the antioxidant property of these plant extracts. Methods: Chemical methods identified phytochemicals present in the hexane and ethyl acetate extract of Justicia tranqubarieansis and Bauhinia racemosa. The antioxidant property was done by DPPH free radical scavenging method. Results: In Justicia tranqubarieansis, hexane extract showed positive for flavonoids, alkaloids, and coumarins. Antioxidants play an essential role in the inhibition of the oxidative damage of the biomolecules. Flavonoids are known as potent antioxidants and are present in abundance in many of the fruits and vegetables besides being present in a large number of medicinal botanicals. A quantitative analysis of the antioxidant activity of quercetin, luteolin, kaempherol and taxifolin belonging to the flavonoid class of compounds, has been obtained by the determination of the structures, energetics and global reactivity descriptors in both neutral and charged states using Density Functional Theory. A comparison of the antioxidant property of these flavonoids, with those of the vitamins viz. vitamin A and vitamin E molecules, reveals that these flavonoid molecules are better candidates for electronic charge transfer to the ROS and hence possesses greater antioxidant activity. The purpose of this research work was to develop and evaluate matrix-type transdermal patches of Ketoprofen. Employing different ratios of hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers by a solvent evaporation technique. The physicochemical compatibility of the drug and the polymers was studied by Infrared Spectroscopy. The results suggested no physicochemical incompatibility between the drug and the polymers. Seven formulations (Consisting of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose E5 and ethylcellulose in the ratios of10:0, 0:10, 1:9, 2:8, 3:7, 4:6, 5:5 (F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7) were prepared. All formulations carried dimethyl sulfoxide as a penetration enhancer and dibutyl phthalate as a plasticizer in chloroform and methanol (1:1) as the solvent system. A simple and rapid method for the determination of mexiletine in pharmaceutical preparations was developed and validated using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). The proposed method was based on electrochemical oxidation of mexiletine at a platinum electrode in an acetonitrile solution containing 0.1M LiCIO4. The well-defined an oxidation peak was observed at +1.11 V. The calibration curve was linear for mexiletine at the concentration range of 5-70 µg/mL for LSV method. Intra- and inter-day precision values for mexiletine were less than 2.73, and accuracy (relative error) was better than 3.89%. The mean recovery of mexiletine was 100.1% for a pharmaceutical preparation. No interference was found excipient at the selected assay conditions.
