Nature has been a source of medicinal agents since times immemorial. The importance of herbs in the management of human ailments cannot be overemphasized. Different extracts from traditional medicinal plants have been tested to identify the source of the therapeutic effects. As a result, some natural products have been approved as new antibacterial drugs. The objective of this research is to find out the potent antibacterial agents from the selected medicinal plants: Mangifera indica and Osyris lanceolata of Rupandehi, and Palpa districts of Nepal. The Bark and Leaves of the plants Mangifera indica and Osyris lanceolata respectively were subjected to extraction by maceration process using solvent methanol. Screening of antibacterial activity was done by disc diffusion method against the microorganisms Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli at three different concentrations (1 mg/disc, 2 mg/disc, and 4 mg/disc). Both plants showed potent antibacterial activity. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assay was determined for the two extracts against these bacterias. Lantana indica Roxb. (Verbenaceae) is grown as an ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The plant is used to treat asthma, abdominal disorders, bilious fever, cancer, catarrhal infections, chicken pox, eczema, hypertension, malaria, measles, swelling, rheumatism, tetanus, and ulcers. Teucrium polium L. is a member of the Lamiaceae family and is represented in the Flora of Syria by two variety: Teucrium polium var. angusti folium and Teucrium polium var. mollissimum. Teucrium polium is a wild-growing flowering plant, found abundantly in Syria, and it is used traditional medicine for it’s diuretic, antipyretic, antispasmodic, tonic, anti-inflammatory, antihypertensive, anorexic, analgesic, antibacterial and antidiabetic effects. Several reports have demonstrated a wide range of beneficial biological and pharmacological activities of the phenylethanoid, phenylpropanoid, and flavonoid components, while the furano neo-clerodane diterpenoids present in germander have been implicated in the in-vivo hepatotoxicity of this botanical. Aim of the study: This study aimed to investigate the antidiabetic activity of ethanolic leaves extracts of Bauhinia galpinii Linn. alloxan, induced diabetic in rats. Materials & methods: The adult male albino rats of weight 180-240 gm were selected for the study. The Dose of 100 mg/kg, 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg of ethanol extract was selected for the test. All the doses were given orally after making an emulsion in the vehicle, i.e., 1% acacia gum and the standard drug, i.e., glimepiride was given orally (10 mg/kg) in the vehicle. Diabetes mellitus was induced by administering an intraperitoneal injection of alloxan monohydrate 120 mg/kg to the overnight fasted rats. A blood sample was collected from tail nipping, and an automatic electronic glucometer determined glucose level. About 4 extracts (hexane, acetone, ethanol, and methanol extraction) from the seeds of Centratherum anthelminticum was extracted. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy characterized ethanol extract.
