AN UPDATE ON AYURVEDIC HERB KACHHNAR (BAUHINIA PURPUREA LINN.)- A REVIEW

Bauhinia Purpurea was commonly known as a purple orchid tree, belonging to the family Caesalpinaceae, sparingly grown in India. The use of natural products as medicinal agents presumably predates the earliest recorded history. It is a species of flowering plant is used in several traditional medicine system to cure various diseases. This plant has been known to possess antibacterial, antidiabetic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diarrheal, anticancerous, nephroprotective and thyroid hormone regulating activity. KASNI (CICHORIUM INTYBUS L.) A PROPITIOUS TRADITIONAL MEDICINAL HERB

The Kasni, Cichorium intybus of family Asteraceae Class Magnoliopsida, which is also known as Chicory, is well known traditional herb included in many systems of medicine like Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha system of medicine. The genus Cichorium has six species with majorly distributed in Europe and Asia. It is cultivated in countries such as the UK, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, USA, and India. Kasni is a small aromatic biennial erect perennial herb around 1 m. in height with a fleshy taproot up to 75 cm in length and mainly it contains alkaloids, inulin, sesquiterpene lactones, coumarins, vitamins, chlorophyll pigments, unsaturated sterols, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, carbohydrates, glycosides, fats, gums, and minerals. Fresh chicory typically contains 68% inulin, 14% sucrose, 5% cellulose, 6% protein, 4% ash, and 3% other compounds, while dried chicory contains approximately 98% inulin and 2% other compounds. AN OVERVIEW OF ANTI-CANCEROUS BEHAVIOR OF VITAMIN E

Imbalance of reactive oxygen species and their body neutralizing mechanisms defines oxidative stress. ROS play a vital role in cancer progression by taking part in DNA damage and induction of inflammatory processes. Studies reveal that natural anti-oxidant levels are reduced to a much lower extent in the serum of cancer patients in contrast to the healthy ones. Vitamin E subgroups like tocopherols and tocotrienols, being anti-oxidants, show anti-cancer abilities in human and animal cancer models. Cancer patients taking vitamin E diet are observed to have lowered reactive species; however, specific tocopherols in exception act as antagonists against chemotherapeutic drugs. HULBAH (TRIGONELLA FOENUM-GRAECUM.): A REVIEW

The Hulbah, Trigonella foenum-graecum of family Legumenasea which is commonly known as methi, in the traditional system of medicine including Unani Medicine. Hulba is an annual herb, 1-2 fit long contains the seed in long, narrow sickle shape pods called Tukhme Hulbah. Hulbah leaves are yellowish green, petiolate, usually 2-5 cm long called Burge Hulbah.
