The discovery of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) therapy that can also permeate the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is very difficult owing to its specificity and restrictive nature. The BBB disruption or drug administration directly into the brain is not an option due to toxic effects and low diffusion of the therapeutic molecule in the brain parenchyma. A promising approach for systemic drug delivery to the central nervous system is the use of nanosized carriers. The therapeutic potential of certain nanopharmaceuticals for AD has already been demonstrated in-vivo after systemic delivery. Herbosomes have an enhanced absorption rate, producing excellent bio-availability, good penetration power. Herbosome technology is one of such systems that incorporate phospholipids into standardized active ingredients of herbal extracts, thus effectively enhancing the bioavailability of water-soluble bioactive constituents of phytomedicines such as flavonoids, phenolics and hydrophilic compounds. These phytoconstituents have been established to exhibit a variety of biological activities that have pharmacological benefits. However, poor absorption of these phytoconstituents limits their bioavailability. The poor absorption is principally due to...

The demand for today’s chemistry is finding an efficient alternative to synthetic indicators. Acid-base titration was conducted using natural indicators in the present research work. The natural indicator is prepared from Jasminum sambac, the most commonly occurring plant. The ethanolic flower extract was used as a natural indicator. For acid-base titration, Hydrochloric acid (HCl) as strong acid and Acetic acid (CH3COOH) used as a weak acid, and Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) were chosen as a strong base. Successful results were achieved when it was examined by using standard synthetic indicators. Titration shows colour change at the point of equivalence. Thus, for acid-base titration at any dilution, natural indicators from flowers can be used. Titration with natural indicator from ethanolic flower extract of Jasminum sambac has not yet been performed by any research team. It is very simple and economical to use ethanolic flower extract of Jasminum sambac as an indicator as it provides the same outcome accuracy as that provided by the synthetic...

Since the origin of life, plants have remained the primary source of food, shelter, and various remedial approaches. Plants are being in use for treating various kinds of diseases. Saraca asoca (Roxb.) de Wilde (Saraca indica L.) is a medicinal plant that belongs to the Caesalpiniaceae family (legume family). It is also called Ashoka. When Ashoka is split up into ‘a’ and ‘shoka’ represents a very deep meaning, i.e., freedom from the grief, which means happiness. It holds a very significant spot in Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine. It is the main ingredient in many Ayurvedic herbal formulations used in treating a variety of diseases. Ashoka is a very popular herbal plant for the treatment of female reproductive disorders. It maintains the reproductive health of females. It has many other useful biological properties like anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, analgesic, haematoprotective, etc. The present review summarizes the phytomedicinal value of Saraca asoca in Ayurveda and the Folk system of...

Objective: Ariel part of Opuntia elatior (Cactaceae) has been used in folklore health systems to treat diabetes in America, Mexico, and India. However, the anti-diabetic potential of cladodes of this medicinal plant is not scientifically validated and authenticated. The present study aimed to evaluate in-vitro and in-vivo anti-oxidant and anti-diabetic potential of methanol extracts and solvent fractions of O. elatior cladodes. Methods: The methanol extracts and solvent fractions of Opuntia elatior cladodes were evaluated at different concentrations (12.5-400 µg/ml) for anti-oxidant activity by using DPPH method and different doses (200 and 400 mg/kg body weight) for anti-diabetic potentials in staptozotocin induced diabetic albino rats. The extracts were administered for three weeks in different groups. Results: The acute toxicity study of Opuntia elatior cladodes extract, and fractions did not show mortality in the animals at the limit dose of 2000mg/kg during the observation period. The outcome of the present study indicates that extract and different fraction shows potential anti-oxidant activity. Cladodes also extract significantly decreases elevated level of blood glucose...

The wound healing method is thought of as mutually beneficial cellular and organic chemistry stages that classify measures to enhance the wound. Wound healing is outlined as stages that are finished by the body and delayed wound healing will increase the likelihood of microorganism infection. The improved wound healing method is performed by shortening the time required for healing or lowering the inappropriate happens. World Health Organization (WHO) and India have been promoting the use of traditional medicine because they are less expensive, easily available, strong belief among the community in developing countries, etc. Literature reveals that simple traditional plants are beneficial in treating several skin-related problems and for wound healing. Tridax procumbens Linn (Asteraceae) growing courtallam widely and surrounding regions peoples used who were suffered from minor cuts, scrapes. This plant easily available in any region of the world. Tridax daisy plant grows at all types of land escapes. In rainy seasons, it grows rapidly. This is an evergreen plant widely used for wound healing, which is helpful...
