INVESTIGATION ON NOVEL ROLE OF SOLANUM XANTHOCARPUM AND JUNIPERUS COMMUNIS EXTRACT AGAINST CCl4 INDUCED LIVER INJURY

Background: There are very less therapeutic and reliable liver protective drugs in modern medicine to prevent and treat the liver injury caused due to drugs. Traditionally Solanum xanthocarpum Schradt. (SX) and Wendl. and Juniperus communis Linn. (JC) have been used since long for their hepatoprotective effect. The current study was carried out to explore the hepatoprotective role of SX and JC aga...

PROTECTIVE EFFECTS OF ETHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACTS OF CORCHORUS FASCICULARIS IN PHENYLHYDRAZINE INDUCED ANEMIC RATS

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the anti anemic activity of ethanolic leaf extract of Corchorus fascicularis against phenylhydrazine-induced hemolytic anemia in rats. Phenylhydrazine (40mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally for 2 days to induce anemia in rats. The animals were divided into five groups of 6 animals each. Group I served as normal control, group II as anemic control, ...

EVALUATION OF ANTIOXIDANT, ANTI-INFLAMMATION AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF AMOMUM MASTICATORIUM THWAITES (ZINGIBERACEAE)

The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of the methanol extract of Amomum masticatorium rhizome were observed in various experimental models. Phytochemical constituents like phenols and flavonoids were also estimated. The antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH and superoxide radical scavenging assays. The extract showed significant antioxidant activity. The in-vitro anti-inflammatory ...

EVALAUTION OF ANTHELMINTIC ACTIVITY OF RICINUS COMMUNIS LINN. LEAVES BY USING DIFFERENT TYPES OF SOLVENT

Aqueous and ethanol ethyl acetate chloroform-methanol extracts from the leaves of Ricinus communis were investigated for their anthelmintic activity against Pheretima posthuma and three concentrations (50, 75 and 100 mg/ml) of each extract were studied for activity, in which paralysis and death time of the worm. Both the extract exhibited remarkable anthelminthic activity at all three concentratio...

ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY, PHENOLS AND FLAVONOID CONTENTS OF PLANT EXTRACTS

The extracts of two different plant were screened for their phenols, flavonoid and antioxidant activity by DPPH method for two locations. In this study seed oil and defatted seed cake extracts of M. azedarach and P. pinnata from two locations indicate high phenolics (13.5-51.2 mgGAE/g) and flavonoids content (1.5-4.2 mgCAE/g). The IC50 value was (0.032-0.048 mg/ml)....
