NATURAL REMEDIES FOR MENOPAUSE SYMPTOMS: A REVIEW
AbstractMenopause is the time that marks the end of female’s menstrual cycle. It is diagnosed after a female goes 12 months without a menstrual period. It is a natural biological process divided into three phases: perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause. Menopause is associated with hormones like the Luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone various physical symptoms such as hot flashes, disruption in sleep, lower energy, osteoporosis and poor emotional health. The present study aimed to compile the treatment options available for postmenopausal symptoms, including lifestyle modifications, hormonal therapy, allopathic drugs, and herbal treatment. Various texts and online search engines like J-gate, google scholar, PUBMED, NIH, and AYUSH portals were used for the collection of data of various published research work related to menopause syndrome. Various online and offline available resources were collected, and comprehensive review was compiled considering the various aspects related to menopause symptom and available natural remedies thereof. Menopause syndrome causes debility, fragile bones, excessive bleeding, hot flushes, night sweats, burning sensations, anemia, Insomnia and mood swings. Various herbal treatment options available for the post menopause syndrome include Shatavari, Amla, Yastimadhu and Ashwagandha for debility. Pushyangachurna and Chadraprabhavati for excessive bleeding, Pravalapisti and Mukatpisti for hot flashes, Brahmi vati for mood swings and Lkashaditaila for fragile bones.
