IN-VITRO ANTI-CANCER EFFECTS OF ETHANOLIC EXTRACT, LEUCAS ASPERA (WILLD.) LINK WHOLE PLANT AGAINST HELA, HEP G2 AND MCF-7 CELL LINES
AbstractLeucas aspera (family-Lamiaceae) has great therapeutic significance in the Indian system of medicine due to its rich antioxidant activity. The main objective of the present work was to isolate the active constituent of ethanolic extract of Leucas aspera by column chromatography, Characterization of isolated compound by IR, 1H NMR, Mass spectroscopy and in-vitro anticancer activity evaluations against Hela, Hep G2 And MCF-7 Cell Lines by MTT assay. The EELA showed highest percentage of cell inhibition 64.18% in the concentration of 500 (µg/ml) on the HepG2 (Human liver cancer cell line) and significant activity than the HeLa & MCF-7. The present study concluded that the antioxidant potentials like flavonoids, saponins present in extract might be responsible for the anticancer activities.
