Anxiety is an obnoxious condition of inner disorder, often accompanied by thoughts, somatic complaints, and nervous behavior. Anxiety is initiated by external stimuli. It may be as a consequence of any underline disease condition such as Parkinson’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, or diabetes. There are different types of anxiety which are a social anxiety disorder, selective mutism, agoraphobia, specific phobia, panic attack, and separation anxiety disorder. In this study anxiolytic activity of methanolic and ethanolic extract of Leaves of Trachyspermum ammi has been determined. For this purpose methanolic and ethanolic extract of Trachyspermum ammi leaves were prepared and evaluate anxiolytic activity in-vivo on mice by using light and dark model of anxiety. Data analysis by using two way ANOVA gives highly significant results, i.e. (P<0.000) for both methanolic and ethanolic extract of Trachyspermum ammi...

The present work was executed to evaluate the anti-diabetic potency of a polyherbal preparation. The objective of this study is to induce experimental diabetes mellitus using streptozotocin in normal Albino wistar rats and study the anti-diabetic activity of polyherbal formulation by comparison of changes in levels of glucose between normal and diabetic rats. The effect of methanol extract of polyherbal preparation containing aerial parts of Schrebera swietenoides, roots of Barleria montana and aerial parts of Rotula aquatica was investigated in normal and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The lowest blood glucose levels were observed at 4 and 8th h after the oral administration of 150 and 300 mg/kg b.w polyherbal formulation. The blood glucose levels at 24 h after the oral administration of 150 and 300 mg/kg b.w. of the polyherbal formulation was significantly lowered the blood glucose...

Mangiferin content in aqueous extracts of 30 varieties of Mangifera indica leaves collected from Gujarat state of Western India has been estimated during this study, using a simple reverse phase HPLC-DAD analysis method. The proposed method has been validated according to ICH guidelines in terms of linearity, accuracy, intraday and interday precision, limit of detection and limit of quantitation. The calibration graph was found to be linear over a concentration range of 20-120 µg/mL, with a regression coefficient of 0.9943. Determination of accuracy by standard addition method at three different concentration levels returned a mean recovery value of 97.64%. Average intraday and interday precision values were found to be less than...

Objective: The study was designed to explore the antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant potential of Jatropha curcas Linn. (J. curcas) stem bark extract. Materials and Methods: The chemotherapeutic action was measured in the crude extract using agar well diffusion method. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of different extracts were tested against two gram-positive and nine gram negative human pathogenic bacteria using agar well diffusion method. Area of the reticence of crude extracts was matched with that of various antibiotics like ampicillin, streptomycin for antibacterial property and fluconazole for antifungal activity. The antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities of different extracts of the Jatropha curcas were also investigated against 2,2 Diphenyl –1- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2, Azion-bis- (3- ethylbenzothia-zoline-96- sulphonic acid) (ABTS), superoxide anion (O-2) and nitric oxide (NO) using spectroscopic absorption methods. The data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA, arranged in completely randomized design (CRD) in the factorial arrangement having four replications. Results: The average inhibition zone for methanol extract (25.31mm) was establish to be extra valuable than the average inhibition...

The botanical supplement market is growing at a rapid rate, and this trend is expected to continue to progress. In the world of nutraceuticals, Echinacea plant is widely used for medicinal and commercial purposes. This Native American herb has a remarkable record of clinical and laboratory study, as well a long history of medicinal use in the management of a variety of conditions. Phytomedicinal preparations from the genus of Echinacea are widely used for the prevention and the treatment of common cold and upper respiratory tract infections. However, most of the uses of Echinacea are based on the reported immunological properties; there is a large body of evidence, based on in-vitro and animal studies, demonstrating that Echinacea possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-microbial properties. It has also been suggested that this plant is a potential therapeutic agent for cancer, diabetes and skin problems. From the other point of view, based on the available safety data, Echinacea has little adverse effects and is well tolerated. This paper reviews the pharmacological properties...
