In folk medicine, Gendarussa vulgaris Nees (Acanthaceae) is used for the treatment of pain, fever, asthma, rheumatism, colic’s, arthritis, jaundice, inflammation, cephalgia, eczema, diarrhea, wounds, dyspepsia. The present study was designed to evaluate for its safety as well as anti-inflammatory and neuro-pharmacological activities of ethyl acetate extract of Gendarussa vulgaris leaves (EAGVL) by using OECD guidelines, xylene-induced ear edema in mice, pentobarbital-induced sleeping test, open field, and hole cross test. Mortality, a sign of any toxicity or behavioral changes were not observed up to the dose as high as 4000 mg/kg. The crude extract was found to have significant (P<0.05, vs. control) anti-inflammatory activity at the oral dose of 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg (b.wt.) in the tested animals. Moreover, the extract of Gendarussa vulgaris leaves potentiated the pentobarbital-induced sleeping time in mice at dose 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg. Antioxidant potential, phytochemical and growth inhibitory characteristics of Anthocleista vogelii stem bark (AVSB) and root (AVRT), Annona senegalensis stem bark (ANSB) and Waltheria indica leaf (WILV) aqueous extracts were evaluated. Phytochemical analysis showed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, saponins, sterols, alkaloids, and terpenes. Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FT-IR) analyses indicated the presence of O-H, C-H, C=O, C=C, N-H and C-O bonds. AVSB, AVRT, ANSB, and WILV significantly (P<0.001) and dose-dependently (1-32 mg/mL) inhibited Sorghum bicolor seed radicle growth throughout 24-72 h compared with the control seeds. Overexploitation of many traditional medicinal plants like Buchanania lanzan Spreng. has become a threat and shortly, many medicinal plants may be unavailable for use in the medicinal industry. The present study outlines the concept of plant part substitution. Stem bark and small branches of B. lanzan are compared based on physicochemical analysis, phytochemical analysis, total phenolic content, total flavonoid content and High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) to evaluate the possibilities of using small branches in place of stem bark. Aim of this study was to generate a model of DHNA using protein sequence and homology modeling and then dock the modeled protein with an inhibitor. Molecular docking is a frequently used method in structure-based rational drug design. It is used for evaluating the complex formation of small ligands with large biomolecules, predicting the strength of the bonding forces and finding the best geometrical arrangements. For inhibition of final model built from the swiss model by using target sequence of DHNA from Shigella flexneri and template sequence from E. coli choose 4 types of ligand molecule in which 2 molecules (2-amino pyrimidine and neopterin) selected for docking with the help of Autodock Vina (software).
